Now for the action you can take to call out the idiocy that can only be attributable to our Republican legislature:
They introduced legislation that would DENY the state federal bailouts and financial relief during Michigan’s worst economic downturn since the Great Recession.  Why?
House Resolution 267 (introduced by Rep. Michele Hoitenga R-Manton, says, “it should not be incumbent on the federal government and the American taxpayers to bail out states for their fiscal irresponsibility.”  To be clear, the Republicans want to deny the tax dollars YOU PAY every year from the State of Michigan.
They want the Governor to slash the budget to bare bones NOW, If they wait until the federal funding comes, the budget won’t need to be cut so severely.  Included in the slash would likely be $2500 per annum per student education cut.   So the GOP would prefer to have our state fall into financial ruin so they can grandstand for their pet budget cuts in education, health care, social services, etc.
CALL TO ACTION: Call the sponsors of this resolution and tell them it is irresponsible and unconscionable to intentionally hurt our state.  This resolution is nothing more than a transparent power play against Governor Whitmer.
