126 Days To The Election The news on Morning Joe this morning is that Trump re-election strategy is to make voters hate Biden more than they hate him. That’s the best he’s got?!Nevertheless, we have to convince moderates and leaning liberals who rarely vote to sign up for Vote by Mail and to vote Blue up and down the ticket in November. !After the August Primary, we’ll come up with a slate to send out to everyone that can be shared with family and neighbors in Leelanau County.!

Since childhood, we are taught that America is a democracy, where good citizenship means we stay informed so we can participate. And we participate in government best when all voices are heard – when anyone can say their piece – when everybody votes. Voting on Election Month is hard. Sometimes the weather is bad. Sometimes we’re busy with school, work, and daily life. Sometimes people make it hard – long lines, short hours, broken machines, incorrect paperwork, confusing choices, not enough workers, not enough time. Voting shouldn’t be hard. Many obstacles to voting are gone and now every voter can access their ballot through the voter absentee application process. July is Election Month! Sit down with friends, family and neighbors and learn about the people running to represent you. Who will positively affect your safety and happiness? Many of us are looking at life through a new lens. Wearing masks, physical distancing, educating kids while working from home, and watching George Floyd’s murder over and over. For those who have lost loved ones to COVID-19 these are dark days indeed. Election Month gives us the time we need to make choices about our ballot in a safe, secure and smart manner. Voting early reduces the stress on election workers who are already working hard to keep up with the voter application and ballot process.
