Leelanau Indivisibles,
Things are really starting to take off on the local, state and national levels with our candidates.
There was an announcement this week by Indivisible National that they are now partnering with 24 other major progressive organizations to form a new group, Organizing Together 2020. We’ll see how we will fit into this puzzle, but so far, there are more than 500 full-time staff who have sent tens of thousands of texts recruiting volunteers nationwide. It’s time to get to work to do everything we can to remove Trump from office and start healing the country. We can do it if we can get our candidates elected up and down the ballot. And that includes getting Joe Biden in the White House.
Organizing Together 2020 is offering a training class on Thursday, May 14 at 6 pm for their first weekly virtual training session on the tools that will help win Michigan in November. https://www.mobilize.us/michigan2020/event/271187/?utm_source=indivisible&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=200509
Speaking of getting organized, many new friends from Grand Traverse, Benzie, and Charlevoix Counties are now on our e-mail distribution so a big welcome to everyone. We have a place at our table for you and we are happy to have your help!
On a local level, here are some events we are hosting this week to activate, engage, entertain, heal and inspire:

There’s serious and not serious talk and certainly no agenda. A totally relaxing way to be with likeminded folks and solve the problems of the world. When: May 14, 2020 07:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada) Register in advance for this meeting:https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZYvf-yopz8pH9zE9kpWiZYpN6fZ_kwp77Mi
- Write! We need Letters to the Editor help!
Jack O’Malley has been in the news a lot lately pronouncing the Lansing protesters as “cool” and getting media attention. We need to neutralize this “entertainment” and “notoriety” by getting letters to the editor praising the attributes of Beth McGill-Rizer, our Blue candidate for the 101st District.
Usually endorsement letters of this type are limited to 100 words. I’m attaching some talking points from Beth that can help inspire you. Following the talking points are the newspapers in the 101st and their e-mail addresses.
Write a letter and send everywhere. You can only get a letter published every 30 days so we need everyone who can write a letter involved. Beth has good messages substantive messages for voters and not Disc Jockey soundbites.
